Live Music Program Reviews
Jill Sunshine - nursing home resident mom
I had the privilege of experience the KOMITOMS performance with my Mom, who is in a Nursing & Rehab home. It was so joyful to watch the Residents enjoy and engage with Marlon, Makeda and his team. Their participation was wonderful, especially knowing many Residents have limited movement and diminished cognitive abilities, yet they were able to benefit from the therapeutic interaction. Even the employees were enjoying themselves.
Any community interested in a unique experience with talented entertainers should hire Marlon Sobol, Founder of KOMITOMS, for an amazing lively musical performance you will not forget and will be left hoping to see it again.
My words do not do justice… it needs to be experienced live to really connect with the music and appreciate the entire show.

“We held the program at the facility and what an amazing experience it was. The residents, staff and family members all joined in for an afternoon of music, fun and movement. The feedback I received was great. My residents want to know when they will be coming back! Thank you for bringing such a great and different entertainment experience to the residents. Can’t wait to book with you again.”
Sprain Brook Manor Rehab
“Komitoms Live Music Therapy has been a transformative experience for the residents at Sprain Brook Manor Rehabilitation. This innovative approach to therapy harnesses the power of music, intertwining rhythm, melody, and harmony to enhance well-being and foster emotional connections among participants.
Rhythm plays a crucial role in the sessions, as it provides a steady pulse that can be both soothing and invigorating. Residents often engage with the rhythm through clapping, tapping, or using percussion instruments, allowing them to express themselves physically and mentally. This engagement serves not only to improve motor skills but also to create a sense of community, as participants synchronize their movements and share in the joyful experience.
Melody is another vital component of the therapy. The live performances feature a variety of musical styles that resonate with the residents, evoking memories and emotions. Familiar melodies can trigger positive recollections, helping to stimulate cognitive functions and spark conversations among residents. The selection of music is often tailored to the preferences of the group, allowing for a personalized experience that fosters connection and engagement.
Harmony enriches the overall musical experience, creating a fuller sound that enhances emotional expression. In Komitoms sessions, harmony is often achieved through vocal arrangements or the use of multiple instruments, providing a rich auditory backdrop that captivates the residents. This harmonious soundscape encourages relaxation and promotes a sense of peace, aiding in the reduction of anxiety and stress levels.
Overall, Komitoms Live Music Therapy at Sprain Brook Manor has been instrumental in improving the quality of life for residents. By integrating rhythm, melody, and harmony, the program not only provides therapeutic benefits but also nurtures social bonds and emotional well-being. The sessions are a highlight of the week, bringing joy, engagement, and a sense of belonging to those who participate.
Marlon and his crew have something great to offer our community and their work should continue to be recognized.”
